OtterOrder is designed to support outdoor range operations — including smaller ranges that sell fewer than 12 items and may not need a full POS system. Combined with Otter Sign, it handles payments, day passes, and waiver enforcement all in one place.
What outdoor ranges typically sell:
- Access passes and day passes
- Guest usage fees
- Non-complex inventory (targets, trap shooting, etc.)
Common problems OtterOrder solves:
- Waiver enforcement
- Day pass payments
- Guest tracking
- Staff dependencies
Setting Up a Range Product
- In your product catalog, create or select a Range category.
- Add a new product (e.g., “Day Pass”) and assign it to the Range category.
- (Optional) Add a description to help staff identify the product at the counter.
- Enable Top Pick — this surfaces the product directly at the counter so staff can add it without browsing categories.
- Enable the Range Product toggle — this requires the customer to have a signed waiver on file before the product can be added to any order.
- Set the price and save the product.
Processing a Range Transaction
Step 1 — Start a New Order
From the POS, create a new order and tap the star icon to access Top Pick products. The day pass will appear here immediately.
Step 2 — Select a Customer
Attempting to add a range product without a customer selected will prompt staff to choose one first. The system will then check whether that customer has a valid waiver on file.
- If the customer does not have a signed waiver, the range product will be blocked from being added to the order.
- If the customer has a signed waiver on file, the product can be added and checkout can proceed.
Waivers are collected and stored through Otter Sign. Customer information — including phone number — syncs automatically to the POS.
Step 3 — Complete Payment
- Add any additional items to the order (e.g., targets).
- Select the payment method and tap Complete Payment — the terminal will be prompted automatically.
- Once payment is collected, send the receipt via print, email, or SMS.
