Printer Setup for OtterOrder

This guide walks you through setting up your USB thermal printer for use with the OtterOrder Counter tablet. Follow each step to ensure your printer connects, prints correctly, and is ready to handle incoming orders.

1. Powering the Printer

Begin by connecting the power adapter.
Insert the small round barrel plug into the side of the printer, then plug the other end into a power outlet.

Press the Power button on the right side of the printer. You should hear a beep indicating the device is now on.

2. Loading the Paper Roll

On the left side of the printer, press the latch to open the lid.

Place the paper roll inside with the paper feeding from the back of the roll forward, and leave a small portion of paper sticking out through the printer’s mouth.

Close the lid firmly until it clicks.

Tap the Feed button to ensure the paper rolls smoothly.

3. Connecting the Printer Cable

Your printer cable includes two ends:

  • The square connector (Type-B) goes into the printer.

  • The flat connector (Type-A) will plug into a USB dongle.

Insert the Type-B connector into the printer.
Plug the Type-A connector into the USB dongle, then connect the dongle to your tablet’s USB-C port.

4. Logging In to Counter Mode

On your tablet, open a browser and go to:

counter.otterorder.com

Enter your email and password, then log in to access your OtterOrder Counter dashboard.

5. Connecting the Printer in OtterOrder

  1. When an order appears on screen, tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) on the right.

  2. Select Printer Settings.

  3. Choose USB Printer as the connection type.

  4. Tap Connect USB Printer.

  5. In the pop-up window, select your printer from the device list and click Connect.

If you see “Printer Connected”, the connection is successful.

6. Print a Test Receipt

Select 80mm as your paper size.

Click Print Test Receipt.
Your printer should immediately output a sample receipt. If it does, you’re fully connected.

7. Choose Printing Behavior

You can choose how OtterOrder prints receipts:

  • Print Immediately – The receipt prints automatically as soon as the order is paid.

  • Print When Accepted – The receipt prints only after a staff member accepts the order.

Select the option that fits your workflow.

8. Returning to the Orders Screen

Tap All Active in the top-right corner to return to your order list.

When a new order arrives, it will appear here.
Tapping the order card will trigger your printer to print the order details based on your selected print behavior.

Setup Complete

Your printer is now fully set up and ready to handle live orders.
